Loving the people around us and all humanity is a Divine command but friendship is a choice.
We are products of the companies and influence we are exposed to. You can’t be a very good and decent guy but hang around bad and dangerous guys. We sometimes mistake the command to live at peace with all men, loving our neighbors as ourselves to mean being friends with everyone. Our family and friends influence over 75 percent of what we do. We can’t choose family but we can choose our friends and must do so to live well and achieve our goals. Choose your friends purposefully and choose only those whose influence can make you become a better person.
